Taking the First Steps

The first step to establishing your own self-funded health plan is to get a quote and see if it looks competitive to you. In order to provide a quote, we will need to get to know your group and all about your current employee benefits plan(s). E-mail, Fax or Mail a complete employee and family census, a copy of your current plan (a summary will do) and a copy of your most recent billing statement. If your group has claims experience reports, we will need those at this stage as well. We will reply promptly with a preliminary quote and all the information that you will need to make an informed decision.
The second step starts when you decide to go forward. CS RRG will start the process of qualifying your group with a review of their current health status.
This can be done in one of two ways. If your group has access to its own claims experience reports the CS RRG Underwriter can use this information to qualify your group. If not, CS RRG will medically underwrite each employee and his family to determine the health of your employees. This is done to protect you and CSRRG. If there are significant health problems, now is probably not the time to self-fund (about 20% of the plan sponsors will not qualify).
The health underwriting questionnaire is a short, confidential health questionnaire that all eligible employees are asked to complete. To assure employee privacy and comply with all HIPAA regulations, they will be instructed to seal the survey in a CS RRG envelope, indicating their name on the envelope and returning it to your designee to record and verify receipt to assure HIPPA compliance.
Next the questionnaires, key statistics and data on your company and employees are collected and forwarded to CS RRG's underwriter. This enables the underwriter to prepare a meticulously accurate quote and we move to the third phase during which your CSRRG representative will be providing you with full financial disclosure which contain all of the terms and conditions.
